The Oyster Club presents
TALKING AT THE MOVIES
MEETS BREAKIN'
We pit your comedian hosts Asher Treleaven, Andrew
McClelland and Scott Edgar (TRIPOD) against one of cinemas
greatest tragedies - BREAKIN'. Made in 1983, BREAKIN', one of
the first ever breakdance movies, follows the story of a struggling
young jazz dancer who meets up with two break-dancers to
become a street dancing sensation.
Thankfully your comic hosts will provide commentary throughout
to ensure you don't miss any of the cinematic and cultural references
in this 80's disasterpiece featuring ICE T in his first feature
film appearance and an unknown Jean Claude Van Damme in
street dance sequence like no other.

MOVING OUT
We revisit and celebrate Moving Out, the classic coming of age
story 25 years after its release. Being a teenager is tough. Being
an Italian teenager living in the very Australian working class
suburb of North Fitzroy in 1982 can be impossible. Gino (Vince
Colosimo) wants to be Australian in this amusing, tender classic
written by Jan Sardi (Shine). As part of the celebration, there will
be a cast reunion including Vince Colosimo, Michael Pattinson
(director/producer), Jane Ballantyne (co-producer) and Jan
Sardi (writer). Vince Colossimo's screen test will also be shown.

MISS NORTHCOTE:
THEY SHOOT. THEY SCORE.
We've set local composer BEN HENDRY the challenge of
composing 3 different musical scores to 6 minutes of rare silent
footage from the 1926 Miss Northcote Beauty Contest. Ben and
his band will then perform those scores LIVE in cinema. How will
our maestro with the mostest deal with the challenge? How will
music change the tone of the piece? What noise does a bathing
suit make? All will be revealed at this screening. Best of all, at the
conclusion of the set, the audience will vote for the score they
liked best.
