THE HISTORY
In 2004, The City of Darebin, High St Traders and Yarra Trams joined forces to create THE WESTGARTH FILM FESTIVAL. The event generated an enormous amount of goodwill in the local area.
In 2006 Palace Cinemas acquired and renovated the Westgarth Cinema and so Palace Cinemas has become involved in the event. With a history of producing and partnering high quality film festivals including The Italian French Festival, The French Film Festival, The Spanish Film Festival, The German Film Festival, The Bayside Film Festival, The St Kilda Film Festival to name just a few! It seemed a good time to revive the local event with Palace Cinemas at the helm. This time around the City of Darebin, Yarra Trams, Niceshorts.com.au and Palace Cinemas will come together to produce The Westgarth Film Festival in 2007.
