The Westgarth Film Festival finished last night, and was a huge success. Palace Cinemas would like to extend a very warm thank you to everyone involved. Without the generous support of the Northcote community, our sponsors, the performers, filmmakers, judges, guests, and of course the Westgarth cinema, the festival would not have been possible.
We look forward to doing it all again next year!

The Blue Grassy Knoll have gained international acclaim for their film scores and winning over audiences everywhere from Sydney, (where they played the Opera House), to New York and Edinburgh (where they won a 'Spirit of the Fringe Award'). Now they're back, after a hiatus, with their wonderfully funny, ingenious and perfectly timed live musical score to Buster Keaton's third feature film "Sherlock Junior".

Made in 1924, the film is filled with amazing comic sequences and centers around a cinema projectionist, played by Keaton, who is framed for theft by a jealous rival for his girl's hand. The images of Buster Keaton literally become the bands "conductor" as they pump out their special blend of original music as the action dictates - a truly incredible experience to witness.

Cheer the hero. Boo the Villain. Experience cinema the way the used to be. Brilliant fun.
